BIG WALK Head Count: Split 10 Lamps and Add the Total

Divide the ten coloured lamp columns before starting, count only your assigned silhouettes, then combine subtotals and enter the current total.

Direct solution

Find the green counting arena around 4100, 1880, directly south of the hidden red-lamp circle. Its ten tall blue lamps briefly show black face silhouettes after the start control is pressed. Before starting, divide all ten lamps into named, non-overlapping groups; with two players, use five lamps each and point out the boundary coloured bands. Everyone moves to a viewing position first, then one activator starts the display and returns to their group. Count only your own lamps until every light turns off. Call each subtotal once in a fixed order, have one recorder add them, enter the combined total at the blue counter, and submit. The display can change, so never reuse 23, 16, or another number from a video. If rejected, repeat from ready positions and recount the new run.

Where to go

Travel to approximately 4100, 1880, just south of the blue hidden-lamp arena below Green Tower. The correct green platform has ten tall blue lamp columns with coloured bands, a start/control wall, and a blue number counter for the final total.

Before pressing start

  • Bring at least two players so the ten lamps can be watched from more than one angle.
  • Assign every lamp exactly once and use its coloured band or position as a stable name.
  • Choose one activator, one subtotal call order, and one recorder who alone adds the final number.
  • Move to unobstructed viewing positions before starting; the silhouettes are temporary.

Find the green arena south of the lamp circle

Go to about 4100, 1880 and confirm ten tall blue lamp columns on a green platform. Do not confuse this with the nearby blue arena full of yellow hazard lamps.

You can see the ten coloured-band columns and a separate number-entry counter.

Identify the start control and number counter

Walk the platform once and point out the start button, all lamp columns, and the blue counter used after counting. Keep the activator close enough to return to a viewing position quickly.

The team knows which control starts the display and which device accepts the total.

Divide all ten lamps with no overlap

Assign a continuous group to each counter and name both boundary lamps by coloured band. With two players, use lamps 1-5 and 6-10. Say every assignment aloud so no lamp belongs to two people or nobody.

Exactly ten lamp assignments exist and adjacent players agree on the boundary.

Choose an angle that covers every assigned face

Each counter stands where every face opening in their group is visible. If a column blocks another, move before starting or transfer that one lamp explicitly to the neighbour.

Every lamp face is visible to exactly one counter, including the tall or far-side columns.

Start only after everyone says ready

The activator waits for every counter to confirm ready, presses the start control once, then immediately watches their own assigned group. Nobody changes lamp ownership during the display.

All counters are stationary and watching before silhouettes begin to appear.

Count only local silhouettes until lights go dark

Add every black face silhouette that appears in your assigned lamps. Keep a finger or spoken local count, but do not shout a global running total. Stop when the lamp display turns off.

Each player has one finished subtotal tied to a named lamp group.

Call subtotals once and add them once

After the display ends, call subtotals in the agreed order. The recorder repeats each number, writes a short equation, and reads the sum back once. Correct arithmetic before anyone touches the counter.

The team agrees on one equation and one combined current-run total.

Enter the current total and confirm acceptance

One player enters the combined number at the blue counter and submits once. On rejection, do not adjust by guessing: reset ownership, repeat the display, and count the new run from ready positions.

The counter accepts the total, completion feedback appears, and the Green Tower reward releases.

Player-count plan

2 players

Split the circle 5-and-5. The player nearest the start button activates, then immediately counts their five.

3-12 players

Use continuous coloured-band groups of roughly equal size. Keep one recorder and never assign the same boundary lamp twice.

Common mistakes

  • Pressing start before every player has an unobstructed viewing angle.
  • Two players counting the same boundary lamp or leaving a far-side lamp unassigned.
  • Shouting changing global totals while other players are still counting.
  • Adding a subtotal twice after a player corrects themselves.
  • Reusing a number from a guide or previous run even though the display can change.

How to recover

  1. 1.If one subtotal is uncertain, repeat the whole display; do not guess the missing faces.
  2. 2.If two counters overlap, redraw the boundary using visible coloured bands and say both endpoint lamps aloud.
  3. 3.If the sum is disputed, have the recorder read the exact subtotal equation before submitting.
  4. 4.If the counter rejects the number, assume the next display may differ and recount it from zero.
  5. 5.If one lamp is hidden by another, move the counter or transfer that single lamp before starting again.
